The eight programmes
Each programme has its own sub-projects, budget and fifty-year trajectory. Here is how SOLUM plans to allocate its resources, and what each sum is meant to achieve.
Funding need over 50 years
–
Working assumptions. These amounts are indicative orders of magnitude, still to be validated. They describe what we aim to achieve, not what we have committed.
Where the money goes
Land carries most of the effort: protecting 30% of French farmland within fifty years, half of it owned outright. The living soil laboratory concentrates the scientific effort of the first fifteen years. The historic estates and the institution’s teams complete the picture.
Allocation by programme
Total over fifty years. Each name leads to the programme’s page section.
Average annual spending over fifty years
Each block is one period. Its area represents the total committed over that period. Colours follow the legend above.

Where the money will come from
- An endowment
- Preserved capital, of which only the income funds the work.
- Donations and philanthropy
- With clear rules for accepting gifts, and never dependence on a single donor.
- Mission-aligned investments
- Investments consistent with the mission, without over-optimistic return assumptions.
- Operating income
- Farm rents, services and supply chains, where the law allows.
Never confuse assets with cash: each programme is funded for its full duration, each acquisition together with its future costs.
Let’s talk funding
Donors, investors, public partners: each programme can be supported on its own.
